PR workers to be regularised

RAWALPINDI, Jan 12: Federal Minister for Railways Ghulam Ahmad Bilour on Thursday announced his decision to regularise the services of all contractual and daily wage employees of the department soon.

He made the announcement while speaking at a workers convention organised by Pakistan Railway Employees Union (PREM) here. “I will regularise the services of contract and daily wage employees who had worked with railways for the last nine months but I will not meet all the demands of the union due to week financial situation of the organisation.” — A Reporter

Two impersonators arrested

GUJAR KHAN, Jan 12: Police conducted raids at the dens of impersonators, arrested two of them and recovered gadgets used in befooling people besides drugs and ammunition here.

According to sources Waheed Khattak, superintendent of police, Saddar division, Rawalpindi led contingents of police from Rawalpindi to conduct raids against the swindlers in Tharjial village of Mandra police station. Police confirmed that operation started late on Tuesday night and was completed by Wednesday afternoon. — Correspondent

Security plan for Chehlum

ISLAMABAD, Jan 12: The capital police have chalked out security plan for the procession of Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A) to be observed tomorrow (Saturday).

Over 1,000 personnel of police and Rangers will be deployed as part of security measures. According to details finalised here Thursday, processions will be carried out from Imam Bargah Asna Ashri in sector G-6/2 and culminate at the same point after passing through various routes.

A contingent of 1,200 policemen will perform security duties on the occasion while eight Quick Response Force teams of Rangers, Crime Investigation Department (CID) and Special Branch will assist them. Mounted police, lay police, Falcon and Eagle squads will also perform patrolling duties.

Special arrangements will be made for checking of `burqa-clad’ women participants in the procession while other participants will be allowed to enter the procession through specified entry points and metal detectors will be used for their checking.— Staff Reporter
