Militant` arrested

KARACHI, Jan 12: Police on Thursday claimed to have arrested a militant belonging to the banned Lashkar-iJhangvi and seized weapons and explosive material from him.

According to CID SP Mazhar Mashwani, acting on a tipoff a police party raided a place on Hub River road and after a brief encounter arrested a militant named Riaz Ahmed alias Riaz Afghaniand seized two hand grenades, a repeater and two pistols from him. SP Mashwani said Riaz Afghani was a most wanted terrorist and the Sindh government had announced a reward of Rs500,000 for his arrest, adding that he was involved in several heinous crimes all over Pakistan.

The CID 'red book' also contains the name of the suspect.—Staff Reporter
