KARACHI, Jan 11: The body of a fiveyear-old girl, who had been missing since Tuesday, was found at a desolate place in Sikander Goth on Wednesday within the remit of the Sachal police station, police said.

The investigation officer of the case, Sub-Inspector Darya Khan, said that following the recovery of the body, thepolice sought details of all reports if lodged with any police station regarding the disappearance of a girl.

It was found that a disappearance report had been lodged with the Gulistan-i-Jauhar police station. Subsequently, the parents of the missing girl were contacted and they identified the body as that of their daughter, he added.The girl had gone missing on Tuesday evening while playing outside her house in Husain Hazara Goth.

The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for a postmortem examination. Doctors at the hospital said that the victim had been subjected to a sexual assault before she was strangled, said the IO.-Staff Reporter
