LAHORE, Jan 11: Robbers took away cash, foreign currency and valuables worth Rs4.8 million from the house of a trader in Madina Street of Gulshan-iRavi on Wednesday.

Mahmood Ali Haqqani told the police three robbers stormed into his house at 7:15am, locked all family members in a room at gunpoint and made off with Rs1.5 million cash, Saudi Riyals worth Rs50,000, 40-tola gold ornaments, prize bonds, six cell phones, laptops, watches and other valuables.

Police have registered a case and launched investigation.Three robbers barged in the house of Safdar in Ichhra police limits and looted cash and valuables worth Rs500,000 at gunpoint.

Four robbers burst into the house of Ibrar in Johar Town police precincts and tool< away cash and valuables worth Rs400,000.

Some robbers entered the house of Aslam in City Raiwind police jurisdiction and looted cash and valuables worth Rs300,000.

FIRE INCIDENTS: Valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees were reduced to ashes in two fire incidents inthe city on Wednesday.

In the first incident, the blaze erupted in the house of Ghulam Qadir near Allah Ho Darbar in Shahdara, burning down valuables worth Rs200,000.

The cause of fire remained unknown.

The Rescue 1122 personnel brought the fire under control.

The fire broke out in the hostel of Mansoora Degree College, Wahdat Road, gutting valuables worth Rs50,000.

The hostel management said the sparking due to the overcharging of a battery caused the fire.— Staff Reporte
