ISLAMABAD, Jan 6: Two swindlers, including a woman, were booked by Secretariat police on charge of stealing a laptop and cheque books of a Nadra official, the police said.

Zainab Bibi had been frequently visiting Zulfiqar Ahmad at his Nadra office and both developed acquaintance. During this time she stole a laptop and cheque books from his office.

The official was not aware of the theft until the police approached him to interrogate about a complaint lodged against him regarding dishonouring of a cheque.

The complainant also approached him saying that a cheque he had issued was dishonoured due to unavailability of money in his account.

He was shocked as he had not issued the cheque that bore his signature. On inquiry, it was revealed that the woman had given him the cheque. Ahmad checked his accounts and found Rs70,000 to have been drawn.

He complained to Secretariat police about the woman after which a case was registered against her and her accomplice, a travel agent. Efforts are in progress to trace the accused. — Staff Reporter
