PARACHINAR/ KALAYA: Al least 34 militants were killed in clashes with security forces in Kurram and bombing by fighter planes in Orakzai Agency on Sunday. Three security men were also killed.

In Central Kurram Agency, 22 militants and three security personnel were killed and several others wounded as clashes erupted between the two sides in Jogi area early in the morning.

Both sides used heavy and light weapons in fighting that continued for hours. One security man was killed and two others were injured.

Ten militants were killed when security personnel launched an operation in the area.

The fighter jets and helicopter gunships also attacked militant positions and destroyed three hideouts.

Later, another clash took place in the same area, leaving 12 militants and two security men dead and six personnel injured.

In Upper Orakzai, jet fighters pounded militant hideouts in Toor Semat, Jandri and Jabba Killi localities in Muhammadzai, a Taliban stronghold. At least 12 militants were killed and seven others injured. Five hideouts were destroyed.
