Robbery bid foiled

TAXILA, Dec 23: National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) foiled a robbery bid on G T Road near here and arrested a robber with weapon and ammunition.

Talking to newsmen at base camp on Friday, Sector In charge DSP Malik Mohammad Iqbal said that during routine patrolling on G T Road, NHMP officials spotted two men who were looting two trucks on gunpoint.

When the robbers saw the patrolling officials, they started firing which was responded by the police officers. Meanwhile, NHMP commando unit officers SPO Kanwar Aziz and PO Muhammad Hussain also reached there and succeeded in arrest a robber later identified as Muhammad Ayub and recovered a repeater gun and cartridges from him.

While the other robbers managed to escape from the scene. — Correspondent
