Man accused of raping niece

ISLAMABAD, Dec 23: A man was booked for allegedly raping his 12-year-old niece in Tarnol on Thursday night, police said.

The victim’s mother lodged a complaint with Tarnol police against her brother over the incident. In response police registered a case against the accused – RR – and started investigation. A raid was also conducted at the house of the accused in Dhoke Kashmirian, but it was found locked.

The police quoted the victim’s mother – JB – as saying that she along with her two children – a son and a daughter (SB) – came to her brother’s house on Thursday. She left for the market with her son leaving her daughter behind with her brother. When the woman returned, her daughter told her about the incident after which they approached Tarnol police station. Later the victim was taken to Pims for medico legal. Hospital sources said the girl was examined by the duty officer who gave vague findings and it was difficult to determine whether she had been raped.

However the victim has been asked to come to the hospital again for medical examination on Saturday. — Staff Reporter

HSSC-I result today

RAWALPINDI, Dec 23: The much-delayed Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) part-I result is being announced by Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), Rawalpindi on Saturday.

As part of security measures, BISE would declare first-year result through its website and no hard copy of the gazette would be issued. Over 50,000 HSSC part-I students have been anxiously waiting for the result and the inordinate delay resulted in furor among students who recently besieged the board building and set its infrastructure on fire.

In view of the students’ protest, the BISE officials are still in grip of fear as they asked for extra police deployment outside the board premises.

The gazette will not be issued however the result cards would be dispatched to the students’ addresses later,” the board’s spokesman, Arsalan Cheema, told Dawn on Friday.

There were reports that the board authorities would not announce the result of 10 per cent students but the spokesman vehemently dispelled the impression saying that it would be 100 per cent result.

The inspection team nominated by Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif is already in town and would leave the city after successful announcement of the result.

Students are desperate to view the result so that they might start attending second-year classes for which they have already deposited admission fee. “We waited a lot for the result but the incompetent board authorities compelled us to resort to violence,” Raja Salim, a student told this reporter. — Our Reporter
