CHARSADDA, Dec 22: Unknown assailants gunned down two persons of a family in Sukhta area of Shabqadar here on Thursday.

Police said that they found the bodies of Sajjad, son of Nadir Khan, and his nephew Abid from the fields in Sukhta area and took them to the tehsil headquarters hospital, Shabqadar. They said that both the bodies had bullet wounds.

The police registered a case against the unknown killers and have started investigation.

PROTEST: Students of government college, Charsadda, on Thursday staged a protest demonstration against the power loadshedding and low gas pressure. The students after passing through various roads gathered at Farooq Azam Chowk where they also blocked the road.

Speaking on the occasion, the student leaders condemned the inefficiency of the government to overcome energy crisis in the last over three years. They said the due to prolonged power outages students could not prepare for their exams. They demanded immediate restoration of electricity in their area.

BASIC RIGHTS: Speakers at a function here have termed the Frontier Crimes Regulation (FCR) a black law imposed on tribesmen to deprive them of their basic rights.

Javed Khan advocate and Malik Din were the key speakers on the occasion who said that the FCR was imposed on the tribal people to control their activities.

They called for abolition of the black law instead of making what they called cosmetic changes in it.

Meanwhile, all preparations have been finalised for the ruling Awami National Party (ANP) rally to be held here in Charsadda on Saturday. Sources said that ANP president Asfandyar Wali Khan, Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti and other senior party leaders will address the rally. The city has been decorated with the party’s red flags, banners and posters for the occasion.
