KARACHI, Dec 21: At least three persons died and about a dozen others fell unconscious after consuming toxic liquor in Sukia Goth near Sohrab Goth on Wednesday, police said.

They said that the victims were identified as Alauddin Burfat, Essa and Naeem.

They said that some residents of Sukia Goth within the remit of the Sobrab Goth police station had consumed the toxic liquor and fallen unconscious.

Sub-Inspector Hidyat Shar confirmed that three people had lost their lives in the incident.

He said that others were taken to private hospitals and police were collecting further information.

Man shot dead in Orangi

A man was shot dead in an Orangi Town locality on Wednesday evening, police said.

They said that two motorcyclists opened fire on 40-year-old Muhammad Rahim when he came out of a mosque in Orangi Town's Sector F-4 after offering prayers.

DSP Tariq Malick said that the victim had come to the city from Swat to attend the wedding of his friend.

The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.

Child's body found in graveyard

The body of a child was found in Gulistan-i-Jauhar's Block-19 within the remit of the Sharea Faisal police station on Wednesday.

The area SHO said that the body was found in a graveyard, located in Block 19, and it appeared that it had lain there for about a month because it had become a skeleton.

The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for a post-mortem examination. At present, the gender of the child was not clear. It appeared that the child was aged between seven and eight years, he added.
