ATTOCK, Dec 18: Body of a local businessman was found here on Sunday after he went missing under mysterious circumstances a night before, causing great unrest among the business community which observed complete shutterdown strike in the city.

Haji Afzal, 40, owner of Alkhair Departmental Store in Attock city, went missing on Saturday after he left for a nearby mosque to offer Maghreb prayer.

When he did not return his brothers and other relatives as well as local businessmen started searching for him but could not find him.

The matter was brought to the notice of Attock police, who also started searching for him.

The bullet-riddled body of Mr Afzal was later found at a deserted place near Shakardara village on Sunday.

Police shifted the body to District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital Attock. Later, the body was handed over to his relatives and a murder case was registered against unknown assailants.

Relatives of the deceased told the local mediapersons and police that they did not have enmity with anyone   and were unable to understand the cause of his murder.

The police believe that the case seems to be that of a monetary dispute, however investigations are underway.

Meanwhile local traders, social and political figures of the district have demanded of the police and Punjab government to immediately trace the killers and arrest them.—Correspondent
