ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan on Thursday underlined the need for enhancing trade relations between Pakistan and Iran through economic cooperation.

She was talking to an Iranian delegation, which called on her.

She pointed out that there was a great scope to enhance cooperation in the field of media between Iran and Pakistan and take benefit from each other's experiences.

The minister also called for exchange of media delegations between the two countries.

The Federal Minister said Iran had always extended support to Pakistan and its assistance during earthquake and floods was commendable.

Awan said media was enjoying complete freedom in Pakistan and the government was providing maximum facilities as well as conducive environment to the media professionals so that they can perform their duties in an efficient manner.

The members of Iranian delegation appreciated the efforts of Dr Awan for promoting cooperation and strengthening brotherly relations between the two countries.

The members also prayed for early recovery of the minister who was suffering from an ankle injury.
