KARACHI, Dec 9: An activist of the Awami National Party was shot dead in a Korangi locality on Friday evening, police said.

They said that assailants riding a motorcycle opened fire on 35-year-old Sualeh Shah in Korangi’s Bengali Market when he was sitting at a shop.

The assailants managed to escape.

The victim sustained bullet wounds and was rushed to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

A spokesman for the ANP said that the victim was associated with the Unit-5 of the party’s organizational structure.

Following the incident, tension gripped the area and shopkeepers pulled down their shutters.

No FIR was lodged with the Korangi Industrial Area police station regarding the killing till our going to press.
