RAWALPINDI, Dec 7: Police have initiated the process of including the names of three brothers on the Exit Control List (ECL) to prevent them from leaving the country for their alleged involvement in the killing of an unrelated teenage girl and injuring their cousins at Holy Family Hospital on Monday, Dawn has learnt.

The police have requested the Ministry of Interior to put the names of Raja Omer, Raja Masood and Raja Atif on the ECL as they are wanted in connection with the murder of Fatima Amin, 13, at the HFH and in an attempt to murder case registered with the Mandra police the same day.

Sub-Inspector Mohammad Anwar of New Town police, who is leading the murder investigation, said: “Yes, a process has been initiated to get the names of the three alleged killers on the ECL.”

Two separate cases have been registered: one with Mandra police on the charge of attempt to murder and the other with the New Town police on the charge of murder and attempt to murder against the accused.

The three brothers were identified as prime accused in the murder case; however, the police have been unable to arrest anyone of them.

The IO added: “Police are hunting for the three prime suspects and have conducted raids at their residence but they were not there and the house was found locked.”

The attackers, who had come to the hospital in a double cabin van, escaped by jumping the wall, leaving their vehicle behind. However, the police impounded the vehicle and arrested its driver.

Raja Shoaib Aziz, 32, who is settled abroad but in Pakistan these days, lodged a murder case with the New Town police, stating three of his cousins opened fire on his brother Qasim Aziz and his elder brother’s wife Uzma Babar (wife of Babar Aziz) while they were settling a family dispute in Mandra.

He said as the injured were brought to the hospital, the three cousins followed them to the hospital and started abusing the injured and their attendants in the emergency ward.

“Raja Masroor Hussain ran towards the parking area of the hospital and brought his pistol from his car. In the meantime, his two brothers asked him to target all of us and he fired at Raja Aqeel that injured him,” he added.

He said the three brothers escaped from the emergency ward by opening fire. Bullets fired by Raja Masroor caused fatal injuries to the teenage girl who was waiting in a car outside the emergency ward for her ailing mother to come out.

The girl was hit in the head and later operated upon but died later in the evening. Police guards were deployed outside the hospital room where injured Uzma and her brother-in-law Raja Qasim were being treated.
