Cinema house blast in Karachi

KARACHI: At least eleven film viewers sustained injuries when some explosive material went off at Kumar cinema located in old city area Kharadar near Lea market, Karachi on Sunday night.

It is said that the explosive material was planted beneath the seats that also destroyed the seats and partially damaged the cinema house.

The injured were rushed to civil hospital where condition of two persons is said to be serious. Others are out of danger according to medico legal officer.

The blast took place during the interval of the film. The Rangers have taken over the area and the cinema to investigate the incident.

The initial reports suggested that some unidentified persons hurled hand grenade however later it was told that some explosive material was planted there.

There are reports that the cinema owners were asked by the extortionists to pay money and on refusal they have been warned of grave consequences through this blast. However further probe would reveal the facts.
