Drug baron arrested

LAHORE, Nov 14: Ghalib Market police claimed on Monday to have arrested a drug baron and proclaimed offender and recovered 2.7kg heroin, 166kg hashish, one kilo opium, four illegal weapons and cartridges/bullets from him.

Model Town SP Operation Malik Awais said Muhammad Shafique alias Shaka of Ferozewala was taken into custody by a police team in connection with a case (22/2000) involving possession of illegal arms and narcotics and firing on police. He said Shafique had been handed over to the Anti-Narcotics Force for further action as the ANF police station had got registered the case in 2000.

The SP said Shafique’s brother Jana was also arrested in the same case some time ago and was convicted by a court. He was sentenced for 12 years.

SEARCH: Saddar division police continued a search operation against suspicious elements in Sundar and Raiwind areas.

Saddar division SP Operation Shoaib Khurram said around 350 people were issued clearance certificates and sureties were received from 130 others during the operation. He said the operation was being carried out in Ali Razaabaad locality of Sattokatla which would last the whole night. — Staff Reporter
