LAHORE, Nov 13: A 40-year-old man was killed and nine others were injured when his rivals shot at them in Pajian village of Raiwind on Sunday. A property dispute involving a 12-marla shamlot plot is said to be the motive behind the shooting incident.

The Raiwind city police said that Nek Muhammad, who possessed the plot for several years, was preset there when his rival Qadeem, alias Kadu, and his brother Waseem came there along with their accomplices. An exchange of words took place between Qadeem and Nek after which Qadeem and his henchmen resorted to firing bullets that left Nek and his relatives Shakeela Razzauqe, Irfan Shaukat, Imran Atif, Baber, Illyas, Karam Elahi and Shaukat injured.

The injured were taken to Jinnah Hospital where Nek, father of four, succumbed to his wounds. The police said Qadeem and his brother wanted to grab the plot from Nek and both sides had quarreled with each other in the past.

The police handed over the body to the family after autopsy and registered a murder case against Qadeem and his accomplices with no arrest so far.

SUICIDE: A 48-year-old trader was found hanged with the ceiling fan of his shop in Sahowari bazaar of Mughalpura on Sunday.

Quoting family, the police said Munir Ahmad committed suicide because of financial constraints as he was upset after facing losses in his business of manufacturing iron cupboards and boxes. The father of three was spotted hanged by his brother, who alerted the police.

Rs3.5m theft: Thieves took away cash and valuables worth Rs3.5 million from the house of a trader in Allama Iqbal Town on Sunday.

Masood Iqbal informed the police that unidentified people entered his house and made off with cash, gold ornaments and valuables totalling worth Rs3.5 million.

ROBBERY: Four robbers stormed the house of DSP Awais Sadiq (retired) in Township and looted cash and valuables worth Rs2.5 million.
