QUETTA, Nov 10: Law-enforcement agencies are trying to trace the militant group behind the young man who tried to attack an Imambargah on Nov 4 but blew himself up after failing to reach his target.

The father of the bomber has been asked to report to an investigation team for questioning after his son's funeral.

The suicide bomber was identified as Pervez Ali by his father on Nov 8 in the morgue of Bolan Medical College Hospital.

“My son was kidnapped four months ago by unknown people,” Farman Ali Haideri said.

“The body of the suicide bomber has been handed over to his father who is an office-bearer of a religious organisation in Dera Allahyar,” a senior police officer said here on Thursday.

Police said Pervez Ali, who was a resident of Shahbaz Colony, Jatpat (old name of Dera Allahyar), had given the name of his uncle Noor Hussain in place of his father in his national identity card.

“The suicide bomber possessed five ID cards with different names,” an investigation officer said. He said Pervez Ali himself belonged to the Shia community and his father Farman Ali Haideri was general secretary of Wahdatul-i-Muslimeen, Jaffarabad district.

“We are investigating all aspects of the incident, especially after knowing that the bomber himself was a Shia,” a source said.

The investigators were trying to ascertain where the bomber wanted to plant the explosives he was carrying. Police were also investigating the claim of Farman Ali Haideri that his son was kidnapped four months ago from Dera Allahyar.

“We are also trying to know which group had provided the explosives and sent the bomber to carry out the blast,” the sources said.
