KARACHI, Nov 6: A man was shot dead and his wife along with a son sustained bullet wounds when their son-in-law opened fire on them during a ‘jirga’ in Frontier Colony on Sunday, police said.

They said that Dilshad Khan and his wife Neelum had a domestic dispute after which the woman had gone to her parents’ home along with her four children.

The Pirabad police said that in a bid to settle the issue between husband and wife, a jirga was held in Haqqani Mohallah, Frontier Colony, where Neelum’s father, Noor Zaman, her mother, Bachakhail, and a brother, Mukammal Khan, as well as Dilshad were present.

They said that during the jirga proceeding Dilshad lost his temper and opened fire on his in-laws and fled. Noor Zaman died on the spot while Bachakhail and Mukmmal Khan were wounded.

The dead and the wounded were rushed to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

Till late in the night no FIR in connection with the killing was lodged at the Pirabad police station.

Two bullet-riddled bodies found The body of a young man was found in Bihar Colony within the remit of the Chakiwara police station on Sunday.

Police said that the body of 40-year-old Ali Bakhsh was found on the Masjid Road in Bihar Colony in the morning. The victim was shot twice in the head.

They said that no spent bullet casings or blood was found at the crime-scene.

The police said that the victim’s first wife had committed suicide some eight years back and he had two children from his second wife.

They said that the victim had a dispute with his former in-laws. However, it would be premature to jump to conclusions, they added.

Another body of a young man was found in Juma Goth in the Shah Latif Town area on Sunday.

Police said that the victim, who remained unidentified till late in the night, appeared to be in his mid-twenties and was shot twice in the head.

The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for legal formalities. Later, the body was moved to the Edhi morgue for a want of identification.

‘Drug addict’ shot dead Unidentified assailants shot dead a drug addict in his house on Umar Khan Road in the Keamari area, police said on Sunday.

A duty officer at the Jackson police station said that the unidentified persons barged into the house of Tajmmul Shah, opened fire on him and escaped. The man died on the spot.

The body was shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi for legal formalities.

The police said that the victim was a drug addict and the police detained some of his fellow addicts for questioning.
