Four booked for land fraud

KARAK, Oct 29: The anti-corruption establishment (ACE), Karak unit, has registered a case against four persons for allegedly making changes in the land record of a woman with the connivance of some revenue officials.

Officials said on Saturday a woman, Zari Jana, resident of Solikhel village, Takht Nusrati, had filed an application in the ACE that Maulana Aseel Badshah, Mohammad Rasool, Arsalan and Naveed Iqbal, residents of Solikhel village, had transferred her daughter Rukhsana’s land in their names with the help of revenue officials.

The officials said the case was registered against the four accused under various sections of the PPC. They said inquiry was also continuing against the revenue officials. Legal action would be taken against them if found guilty of conspiring with the accused to illegally transfer the land in their names.—Correspondent

Jewellery shops, house looted

MANSEHRA, Oct 29: Unidentified dacoits looted a house and jewellery shops on Friday night.

Six armed men barged into the house of Mohammad Shahzad in Sajawal Sharif area in the city and held the family hostage at the gunpoint.

They collected gold ornaments, cash and other valuables and escaped.

Mohammad Shahzad told the city police two masked men forcibly entered his house after knocking the door and held the family hostage. He said after awhile four more armed men entered the house and locked them in a room. He said the robbers collected Rs250,000, gold ornaments, a pistol, seven mobile phone sets, wrist watches and other valuables and escaped.

In another incident unknown dacoits took away over 100 tola gold ornaments from two shops after holding the watchman at gunpoint in Gharihabibullah.—Correspondent

Houses reconstructed

PESHAWAR, Oct 29: The Al-Khidmat Foundation on Saturday handed over keys of 434 houses to the owners which were destroyed or partially damaged during the flash floods of 2010 in parts of Peshawar. The houses were reconstructed by the foundation.

The keys were given to the flood survivors by the foundation’s former president Niamat Ullah Khan advocate during a ceremony at Peshawar press club. He said the foundation had been playing very active role for the welfare of the downtrodden, adding it had planned to establish two diagnosis centres and water filtration plants in every district of the country.

Earlier, Al-Khidmat Foundation, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, president Dr Iqbal Khalil said the foundation would reconstruct 5,000 devastated and partially damaged houses and 300 mosques as well in 13 affected districts of the province.—Bureau Report

Kurram families get cheques

PARACHINAR, Oct 29: Of 623 displaced families adversely affected by the drawn out unrest in Kurram Agency, 147 families were on Saturday given Rs150,000 each and household items.

Members of a tribal jirga and political administration supervised the cheques distribution at a ceremony. The compensation of the displaced families is part of the implementation of the Murree Peace Accord struck between different tribes.

Those received the compensation belonged to the Bagazai, Chardiwar and Jalalay villages. The remaining displaced families would receive cheques and household goods today (Sunday).

Addressing the ceremony, additional political agent, Kurram Agency, Zafar-ul-Islam said the government was aware about the miseries faced by the dwellers of Kurram Agency owing to continued unrest. The next installment of Rs150,000  would be given to them soon after the coming Eid, he said.—Correspondent

Complaints against fire staff

PESHAWAR, Oct 29: The shopkeepers of different bazaars in the Peshawar city have complained against the officials of city fire station for failing to reach the spots in case of fire and demanded of the government to take action in this regard.

The point was raised by several shopkeepers while talking to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Senior Minister Bashir Ahmed Bilour during his visit to the gutted shops at Shabistan Cinema Road on Saturday.

A statement issued here said the people also asked for properly equipping the rescue personnel with facilities of light, masks and oxygen so that they could continue the rescue operation smoothly during night.

The minister directed the officials of Town-I to conduct inquiry into the fire incidents which caused destruction to many shops, reportedly due to short circuit. He asked the officials to inform all the relevant departments in case of any negligence on their part so that such incidents would not recur in future.—Bureau Report
