They were booked under Sections 353 (criminal assault to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 324 (attempted murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code and under Section 13-D of the Pakistan Arms Ordinance, 1965.

Lawyers protest attack on AJK CJ

Legal proceedings remained suspended at the the Sindh High Court and the subordinate judiciary on Wednesday as the lawyers boycotted the courts in protest over a gun attack on the chief justice of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir High Court.

Justice Ghulam Mustafa Mughal had sustained a bullet wound in the attack in Muzaffarabad on Tuesday evening.

Hundreds of cases fixed for the day at the city courts and the district courts of Malir were put off due to the boycott.

The courts wore a deserted look as a small number of undertrial prisoners who were brought to the lock-up at the city courts were taken back without being produced in courts while no undertrial was transported to the district courts, Malir.

Legal proceedings were also badly affected at the special courts, including anti-terrorism courts, control of narcotic substances courts, accountability courts, anti-corruptions courts and banking courts, as the lawyers stayed away from the courts.

The SHC Bar Association held a general body meeting to condemn the attack on the chief justice of Azad and Jammu Kashmir.
