LAHORE, Oct 20: Robbers shot at and wounded three people, including an Edhi volunteer, and looted over Rs1 million from them in separate hits here on Thursday.

Two robbers, riding a motorcycle, intercepted an Edhi Foundation ambulance in Muslim Block of Allama Iqbal Town and attempted to loot a cash bag from the employees at gunpoint.

An Edhi spokesman said foundation’s supervisor Nasiruddin (55), who was going to Moon Market to deposit Rs1 million cash in a bank, offered resistance to the robbers who opened fire.

As a result, Nasuruddin suffered a bullet to his left hand but continued resisting the robbers prompting them to fire another bullet that hit the supervisor’s right thigh. The robbers then fled with the cash bag, leaving the victim severely injured. He was being treated at Jinnah Hospital.

In the second incident, two robbers stopped Akbar (45), a security guard, in Ghalib Market police limits, depriving him of cash and a cell phone at gunpoint. They also shot at and wounded Akbar on offering resistance. The victim was admitted to Services Hospital.

The third incident occurred in Gujjarpura police limits where Arif, owner of a burger shop, was shot at and injured by robbers who took away cash and a cell-phone from the victim.

FOUND DEAD: A 19-year-old girl was found shot dead under mysterious circumstances at her in-laws house in PAF Colony of North Cantt on Thursday. Police registered a murder case and took the victim’s husband and his two servants in custody who expressed their ignorance about the details of the crime.

Police said Saman contracted love marriage with Allah Ditta of Cantt a few months ago. On Thursday, Saman was found shot in temple. — Staff Reporter
