Cash for prosecutors

PESHAWAR, Oct 18: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced allowance of Rs20, 000 for public prosecutors working in the anti-terrorism courts.

A statement issued here from the department of home and tribal affairs on Tuesday said public prosecutors who will avail the incentive included four 4 people at Swat, one each at Malakand, Mardan, Abbottabad and Bannu, three at Peshawar and one at Kohat.The decision is aimed at encouraging the public prosecutors in the anti-terrorism courts.—Bureau Report

Miner killed

KARAK, Oct 18: One person was killed and four others were seriously injured in separate incidents.

Police and hospital sources said a miner, Murad Ali, resident of Bahaderkhel, came under a boulder, while working in a salt mine in Bahaderkhel. He was seriously injured and shifted to DHQ hospital where he died.

A speedy police van hit a motorcycle on Indus Highway near Chongi area, seriously injuring two riders Kashifullah and his friend Anees. In another incident two motorcycle riders opened fire over a car on Indus Highway near Ahmadabad Chowk, seriously injuring two persons Gul Mohammad and his son Minhas.—Correspondent

Outlaws arrested

MARDAN, Oct 18: Police arrested 22 outlaws and recovered various arms from them during a month-long operation in the jurisdiction of Sheikh Maltoon Town police station, police sources said on Tuesday.

The DPO Dr Zeshan Raza had constituted a team to launch an anti-criminal operation after some residents of Sheikh Maltoon and its surrounding areas had filed complaints about the growing incidents of robberies, kidnapping, murders and extortion.

Six Kalashnikovs, nine Kalakovs, seven rifles, nine shotguns, 42 pistols, 1,650 cartridges, 3,220 gram hashish and 8 bottles of wine were recovered.—Correspondent

Workers’ donation

PESHAWAR, Oct 18: The employees of Workers Welfare Board, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, have donated two days’ salary amounting to Rs5.3 million for the Prime Minister Relief Fund for the flood affected people of Sindh.

All Pakistan Workers Welfare Board Employees Union, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter, president Zulqarnain Shah, at a press conference at Peshawar Press Club on Tuesday, said the workers had sent the donation cheque to the prime minister through the provincial Minister for Labour Sher Azam Khan Wazir. He asked the workers of rest of government and private organisations to donate whatever they could for the people of the flood hit areas of Sindh.—Bureau Report

Govt to hold APC on 24th

PESHAWAR, Oct 18: The government will hold all parties conference on Oct 24 to brief the politicians about the Diamer-Basha Dam, its advantages and estimated cost. While talking to media persons at Peshawar Press Club on Monday the provincial Minister for Information Mian Iftikhar Hussain said the government had always preferred to take the politicians into confidence on important issues.—Bureau Report
