LAHORE, Oct 13: An unemployed youth shot himself to death at his father's grave in Nizamabad locality of Gujjarpura here on Thursday.

Gujjarpura SHO Shahid Ali said the police recovered a stamp paper from the pocket of deceased Muhammad Tariq (30) which read: “His extreme love with his late mother, unemployment and divorce from his wife were the factors responsible for his suicide”.

He said the initial police investigation and crime scene suggested that Tariq went to his father's grave and shot himself dead.

The SHO said that Tariq, the father of a son, had also handed over some cash to his friend for donating it to a mosque.

He said the body was handed over to the family after an autopsy.

In another incident, a 17-year-old girl was found shot dead under mysterious circumstances at the washroom of her house in Accounts Colony in Green Town on Thursday.

The family claimed that victim Hina committed suicide by shooting herself over a marriage proposal dispute while the police said a post-mortem examination would be carried out to determine the exact cause of her death.

Green Town SHO Aamir Saleem said the body of Hina was recovered from the toilet.

He said according to the family Hina wanted to marry the man of her own choice which she was not permitted. The family said Hina took it to her heart and committed suicide.

GUNNED DOWN: A 35-year-old man was gunned down allegedly by two people for the sake of 'honour' in Asif Salman Colony in Kahna early on Thursday.

Kahna police said that Muhammad Hanif Khan was killed after he tried to stop suspects Shahzad and Ishtiaq from teasing his daughter.

The police said the deceased had shifted from Bhaseen village of Batapur to Khana after the suspects kept teasing his daughter.

Police shifted the body to a hospital for an autopsy and registered a case against the suspects.

FOUND SHOT DEAD: A 28-year-old man was found shot dead in a canal in Haier locality of Burki on Thursday.

Burki police identified the victim as Afzaal Ahmad of Haier village.

Muhammad Younas told police that his son had left home on last Wednesday midnight and did not return.

On the day of the incident, some witnesses spotted the body floating in the canal and alerted the emergency police.

Police said Afzal was a criminal and was involved in several robberies.

Police handed over the body to the family after an autopsy and registered a case against unidentified person(s).
