KARACHI, Oct 12: The bullet-riddled bodies of two brothers were found in a desolate area in Malir on Wednesday morning after their suspected killer led the police to the place where he shot them dead and dumped the bodies, police said.

They said that the bodies of 27-year-old Babar Suleman and 24-year-old Bilal Suleman were found in Shaban Town within the remit of the Malir City police station.

Malir City SHO Ali Hassan Sheikh said that the victims’ father, Suleman, came to the police station on Tuesday night and informed the police about the disappearance of his two sons.

He told the police that a former neighbour, Asif Baloch, along with his friends had kidnapped his sons. Subsequently, the police took the suspect into custody and grilled him, the SHO said, adding that he confessed to having killed the two brothers with the help of his three friends.

The suspect also led the police to a desolate place in Shaban Town where he had dumped the bodies.

The two brothers were shot multiple times with a pistol. The police shifted the bodies to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for a post-mortem examination.

The victims’ father suffered a heart attack while sitting in the police station. He was taken to a hospital where he was admitted for treatment, the police said.

Shedding light on the possible motive behind the killings, the area SHO said that suspect Baloch told the police that victim Babar was fond of his cousin, a Class IX student at a school where Babar used to teach.

He said that prior to the incident, the suspect had snatched Babar’s cellphone at gunpoint and after reading text messages between his cousin and the victim he decided to kill the two brothers.

The SHO said that the families of the victims and suspect Baloch’s cousin were earlier living in Gulshan-i-Ghazi, Malir.

Babar was a teacher and his younger brother, Bilal, was employed in a private engineering firm, the police said.

Till late in the night, the FIR pertaining to the killing was not lodged at the Malir City police station.

Man shot dead in Landhi A young man was shot dead near the telephone exchange street in Landhi on Wednesday morning, police said.

A duty officer at the Quaidabad police station said that the victim, Javed, was passing through the area on his motorbike when unidentified armed men, also on a motorcycle, targeted him.

The victim sustained four bullet wounds and died on the spot. The body was shifted to the JPMC for medico-legal formalities.

The police said that the victim had no affiliation with any political or religious party, but some cases pertaining to cheating and fraud were registered against him at the Sharafi Goth and Landhi police stations.

He was associated with the sale and purchase of cars. He was father of two and originally hailed from Mansehra.

The police found six spent bullet casings from the scene. No FIR was lodged till late in the night.

Woman slaughtered in factory

A young woman was slaughtered inside a garments factory in the Korangi Industrial Area on Wednesday, police said.

They said the victim, Zubaida Masih, was a sanitary worker at the garment factory. The area police learnt about the incident through police helpline 15 after the factory management informed the law-enforcers about the murder on their premises.They said that suspect Muhammad Asif, also employed at the factory, attacked the woman with a sharp-edged weapon in a factory washroom when the victim was busy in her work.

The police said that apparently the woman put up resistance against the suspect and raised alarm upon which the accused slit her throat. However, the suspect failed to escape from the premises as the management closed all the gates and alerted the guards, said Korangi Industrial Area SHO Ejaz Rajpar said.

Later, the police reached the scene and arrested the suspect and also recovered the murder weapon.

“The clothes of the victim, blood collected from the crime-scene and the weapon used for killing have been taken into custody and will be sent for a chemical examination,” the area SHO added.

The victim woman was a resident of Christian Colony, Korangi.

A case (FIR963/2011) was registered on a complaint of the victim’s husband, Younis, under Section 302 (premeditated murder) of the Pakistan Penal Code against Muhammad Asif at the Korangi Industrial Area police station.

The area SHO said that the complainant maintained in the FIR that there was enmity between his wife and Asif.
