7 remanded to police

TAXILA, Sept 30: The special anti-corruption court awarded eight-day physical remand of the seven accused involved in misappropriating Rs10 million from the funds for procurement of land for construction of cricket stadium in Hassanabdal  in 2006.

The judge, Nazeer Ahmed ordered to hand over the seven accused including tehsil nazim Shafqat Khan, former naib tehsil nazim Sadda Hussain Shah, former nazim UC 27 Kafayat Awan, former naib nazim UC 27Malik Mohammad Khursheed, former nazim UC-27 Zubair Iqbal and officials of Tehsil municipal administration including the then Tehsil Municipal officer Khalid Khan and Tehsil Officer (Finance) Tanveer Hussain.

The anti-corruption establishment (ACE) on August 9 registered an FIR against these persons for ‘misappropriating’ the funds for town administration.

They had obtained the amount in violation of rules. — Correspondent
