KARACHI, Sept 27: Police on Tuesday recovered the body of a woman who had been killed and buried in the courtyard of her house in Sultanabad.

The Jackson police arrested three suspects — Tahir, Suhaib and Abida — in connection with the mysterious disappearance of the woman, in her mid-30s.

The suspects led the police to the place where they had allegedly buried the victim.

She lived alone as her husband was abroad, the officials said.

The police said that a fourth suspect, Niaz alias Niazi, who is absconding, had a relationship with the victim and suspect Abida, also a resident of Sultanabad.

They said that Niaz murdered the victim and asked Abida to make arrangements for the disposal of the body.

The police said that Abida hired two labourers, Tahir and Suhaib, to dig a grave inside the victim’s house and they buried her on July 25.

They said the matter was reported to the police when the victim’s brother, Mohammad Javed, lodged an FIR (448/2011) pertaining to the mysterious disappearance of his sister at the Jackson police station.

The police said that the victim’s husband had not yet returned. The body was sent to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for a post-mortem examination.
