ISLAMABAD, Sept 25: Anti-Car Lifting Cell (ACLC) has foiled an attempt to smuggle huge cache of weapons and arrested an alleged arms smuggler near motorway interchange in the limits of Tarnol police station, a police source said.

Following the directives of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Bani Amin Khan and SSP Muhammad Yousuf Malik, the capital police have been on high alert and the checking has enhanced at the entry and exit points.

Acting on the direction of the IGP, the ACLC team headed by its In-Charge Altaf Khattak intercepted a suspected Corolla car (RIU-4577). At this, the driver tried to escape from the scene.

The police team chased the absconding person and managed to overpower him. On the search of the car, police recovered huge quantity of weapons including 6 mini-machine guns, 14 Kalashnikovs, four 12-bore pump action guns, one 12-bore double barrel, one sniper rifle and over 30,000 rounds, the source maintained. — APP
