PESHAWAR, Sept 17: Seven people were killed in different incidents in parts of Peshawar, police said on Saturday.

Mir Wali allegedly committed suicide after killing three people in Mathra village. An official of the Mathra police said that the accused following exchange of hot words with his family had opened fire on them and injured his wife Shaukata Bebi, daughter Saba Gul, and nephew Mursaleen on Friday night.

The official quoting local witnesses said the accused was drunk and after injuring his family members he also opened indiscriminate fire in the street which caused serious wounds to his neighbours Roshan Khan, Shamsher and his nephew Musa Khan. The local people rushed the injured people to Lady Reading Hospital where Shamsher, Roshan and Musa succumbed to their wounds while the rest of people were admitted to the intensive care unit.

The police said the accused Mir Wali also committed suicide on Saturday morning when ‘he came to senses’. The official said that it was yet to be ascertained if he had committed suicide or had been killed by someone else, but his body was found in the street. The cause of the indent, he said, was still unknown. “His wife in her statement said that he all of a sudden got infuriated and started firing.”

In another incident, a young man, Kamran, was shot dead by unidentified persons at Surizi Badbher. The complainant, Noor Rehman, who is father of the deceased, told police that his son after attending a marriage party in the village was on way to home that unidentified persons shot him dead. He said that his family had no enmity and thus did not nominate anyone in the case. An official of Badbher police station said that a murder case had been registered against unknown accused.

Another youth, Zakirullah, also allegedly committed suicide in Sufaid Sang area in limits of Regi police station. His father, Mumtaz Ahmed, told police that his son was mentally upset and shot himself with a pistol. He was taken to Lady Reading Hospital but could not survive.

Similarly, a drug addict identified as Gul Ghafoor of Nowshera was found dead near Ayub Mills in Paharipura area. An official of Paharipura police station said the deceased’s brother, Gul Reheem, who received his body, said that his brother had died a natural death.
