KARACHI, Sept 15: The anti-violent crime cell (AVCC) of the city police in a raid jointly carried out with the Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) on Thursday recovered a 56-year-old doctor kidnapped in Gulshan-i-Hadeed a fortnight ago, a CPLC statement said.
“Dr Vasdev Mal was kidnapped on August 30 when he was returning home after regular duty hours in Thatta,” the statement said.
“Later the family was approached by the kidnappers who demanded a ransom of Rs10 million. The case was reported to the police and the CPLC. A joint strategy was devised under CPLC chief Ahmed Chinoy and SSP AVCC SSP Usman Siddiqui that led to location of the kidnappers,” the statement added.
“The joint team on Thursday morning raided the hideout of the kidnappers in Memon Goth and after a brief encounter arrested four suspected kidnappers — Abdul Aziz, Muhammad Usman, Ghulam Abbas and Abdul Aziz. Two 9mm. pistols and a revolver have also been recovered from their possession. The kidnapped doctor has also been recovered unharmed,” it added.—Staff Reporter
