Women found murdered

PESHAWAR, Sept 10: Yakatoot police on Saturday recovered bodies of two women along the Syed Hassan Pir Road.

An official said an unknown caller informed police about the presence of two bodies of unidentified women at Mohmand Abad locality, adding, no one had so far contacted police for receiving the bodies.

He said there were signs of bullet injuries on the bodies, adding, one woman seemed to be 45 years old while the other 22 years old.

The official said both the bodies had been shifted to the local mortuary for autopsy and efforts were made to get clue about their relatives.—Bureau Report

Two killed in Karak

KARAK, Sept 10: Two persons were killed in separate incidents here on Saturday.

Police said a boy, Gul Zaman, 16, resident of Terri, was killed when he was hit by a bullet fired by him while hunting in the nearby hills.

In the second incident a man identified as Abdur Rasheed, resident of Lakki Ghundaki, was allegedly killed by his cousin, Ayub Khan, over some petty issue.

Gul Shaheed, the father of the victim, registered FIR in Karak police station against Ayub Khan.—Correspondent

Corruption case

MANSEHRA, Sept 10: The anti-corruption establishment on Saturday arrested a sub-divisional officer and booked three other officers and a contractor in a misappropriation case.

Aurangzeb Khan, circle in-charge, anti-corruption establishment Mansehra, told reporters that inquiry into embezzlement of funds in a water supply scheme was started on the written complaint of Niaz Mohammad of Chokain.

He said Niaz Mohammad had alleged that an amount of Rs10 million was embezzled in the Chokain water supply scheme.

Mr Khan said after the preliminary investigation it was proven that SDO Asmatullah, superintendent engineer Ziauddin, chief engineers Asghar Khan and Iftikhar-ur-Rehman and contractor Ihsanullah Khan were involved in the misappropriation of funds.

He said after registration of FIR, Asmatullah was arrested and raids were being made to arrest the others involved in corruption.—Correspondent

Man shot dead

LAKKI MARWAT, Sept 10: A man was killed when two groups exchanged fire in Ahmadkhel village in the limits of Lakki Marwat police station on Saturday.

A police official said two rival groups traded fire over a minor issue as a result a passer-by identified as Ikramullah was killed.

The body was later taken to the city hospital by the relatives for medico-legal formalities.

The complainant Masood Khan nominated Ghulamullah, Aslam, Ghani Rehman and Ibrahim from both groups in the FIR for the offence. Police registered a case and started investigation. In another incident a bank official, Haji Mohammad Iqbal, was electrocuted in his house in Khoidadkhel locality of Lakki city.—Correspondent

Stranded students

PARACHINAR, Sept 10: Hundreds of stranded students staged protest demonstration here on Saturday against closure of Thall-Parachinar road and demanded their safe evacuation to Peshawar.

A large number students, employees and overseas workers who came to their homes on Eid have been stranded due to insecurity on the main road.

The protesters demanded helicopter service between Parachinar and Peshawar to evacuate stranded students and employees.

They said militants had virtually taken control of the main road which remained closed for the last five years.

They said over 100 loaded trucks had also stranded in Thall owing to the road closure, but political administration and security forces did not provide security. They demanded of the government to deploy army troops on the main road.—Correspondent

Judges honoured

MANSEHRA, Sept 10: The district bar association on Saturday hosted a reception in honour of the newly appointed judges of the Peshawar High Court. Justice Fazal Haq Abbasi, Justice Nisar Hussain Khan and Justice Malik Azmatullah, were recently made permanent judges of the high court.

The former president of the bar Shahjahan Khan Swati also hosted a reception in the judges’ honour at his residence.

Justice Syed Sajjad Hassan Shah, chairman Hazara Soba Tehrik Sardar Mohammad Yousuf, Commissioner Hazara Khalid Khan Umerzai and DIG Hazara Dr Mohammad Naeem also attended the reception.

Speaking on the occasion the judges of the high court said they stood for dispensation of justice without any discrimination.—Correspondent
