No end to loadshedding

ISLAMABAD, Aug 29: Saying that loadshedding will continue during Eid holidays, the Islamabad Electric Supply Company (Iesco) on Monday said special arrangements had been made to save the consumers from prolonged shutdowns and non-redress of complaints.

In a press release, the company appealed to consumers to cooperate with it and in case of interruption in power supply contact the complaint office in their respective areas.  "We are always busy to provide best services to consumers and have made special arrangements to save the consumers from any problem during Eidul Fitr," added the statement. — Our Reporter

House looted

TAXILA, Aug 29: Three dacoits looted a house in village Jaloo on Monday, police said.

Fazal Hussain told police that he was sleeping along with his family when three masked men armed with sophisticated weapons scaled the walls of his house. He said they took gold ornaments, cash and other valuables from the house. Police have registered a case. — Correspondent

Trader deprived of money

TAXILA, Aug 29: A group of swindlers deprived a cattle trader of cash after he accepted their offer of lift, police said on Monday.

Mohammad Islam told police that he had come from Gujarnawala for buying cattle. He added as he was waiting for a passenger van, the men in car offered him a lift. He said when he got into the car, the men snatched Rs0.16 million from him, adding that they threw him off on G.T. Road and escaped. In other incidents, two cars were stolen from Lalarukh and Mohar Wali Shah locality. — Correspondent

Reach home safely campaign

TAXILA, Aug 29: The National Highway and Motorway Police (NHMP) on Monday launched a two-day "reach home safely" campaign as the people are in a rush to be home before Eid.

NHMP DIG Dr Mohammad Shahfeeq kicked off the campaign by giving Eid cards, gift hampers and information pamphlets to commuters traveling on the motorway. The campaign would be launched at all motorways and information booklets and Eid cards would be issued at the all entry points of toll plazas.

The NHMP officials said has also finalised a plan for the security of road users and free flow of traffic during Eid holidays. They said patrolling on motorway would be increased as majority of the people use Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway during holidays. — Correspondent

Water supply

ISLAMABAD, Aug 29: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Monday said it has made special arrangements for uninterrupted water supply to the citizens during Eid.

Director General Water Management Sanaullah Aman said vacations of the staff concerned had been cancelled. A control room has also been set up in which 16 water tankers would be present for dealing with any emergency complaints regarding water supply. — Online

2 booked for kidnapping girl

RAWALPINDI, Aug 29: The Bani police have registered a case against two persons on the charge of kidnapping a girl.

Nasreen Bibi complained to the police that her daughter Um-i-Rubab, 13, was kidnapped allegedly by Umar and Qaseer. However, her daughter managed to escape from the place where they had locked her, she added.

She requested the police to arrange a medical check-up of her daughter. After filing a case against the culprits, the police have sent the girl for medical check-up. —Online
