LAHORE, Aug 28: The police on Sunday claimed to have arrested 191 proclaimed offenders, 276 absconders and 189 wanted criminals in last five days.

According to a handout issued here, the police, acting on the directives of Operations DIG Ghulam Mehmood Dogar, arrested 83 peddlers and seized from them four kilogrammes of heroin, 2.5 maunds of hashish and 1,460 bottles of liquor.

Similarly, the police arrested 73 people and recovered from them 41 unlicenced riffles and guns and 67 pistols/revolvers besides 1,825 bullets/cartridges.

During raids at gambling dens, the police took 110 people into custody and recovered from them stake money including Rs670,000 in cash, 83 cell phones, 11 gold chains and 16 rings.

As many as 94 vehicles and motorcycles with broken or without number plates and without registration books were also impounded during snap checking.
