Zulfiqar Mirza resigns from Sindh Assembly, blasts MQM

KARACHI: Senior Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader and Sindh Senior Minister Dr Zulfiqar Ali Mirza on Sunday announced his resignation from his party post as vice president of PPP Sindh chapter as well as membership of the Sindh Assembly.

Addressing a crowded press conference at the Karachi Press Club, he expressed serious reservations on
the policy of government about the law and order situation in Karachi.

He said he would continue to work as an ordinary party worker. He harshly criticized Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik and termed him a compulsive liar and a threat to Pakistan’s security.

He said he had already told his party leadership that Malik could not be relied upon. He said that only one person is responsible for all killings in Karachi and that person is Rehman Malik.

Mirza leveled serious allegations on Muttahida Quami Movement and its chief Altaf Hussain. He termed the MQM and its head responsible for target killings in Karachi. He accused the Sindh Governor Ishratul Ibad of patronizing target killers.

He revealed that the police department was highly corrupt and that police stations in Karachi are being auctioned to the highest bidders.

Zulfiqar Mirza alleged that during a meeting in London MQM chief Altaf Hussain had told him that America and world powers had decided to break up Pakistan and he (Altaf Hussain) had supported their idea.

He claimed that Altaf Hussain had demanded disbanding of ISI. He further alleged that MQM was patronizing killers and criminals. He also claimed that journalist Wali Khan Baber was also killed by the MQM.

He said he was sorry for his earlier comments for the people who had migrated from India. He said he respects Urdu speaking people and that many of his close relatives are also Urdu speaking.

He said that those people who want to breakup Pakistan are pitiful. He hoped that the Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry would summon him in the hearing of the case regarding Karachi target killings.

Zulfiqar Mirza said that he would remain a loyal worker of the PPP. He said if something happened to him those behind the Karachi killings and those behind the murder of Dr Imran Farooq would be responsible for it. He said that he would spend the rest of his life fighting for the rights of the oppressed people of Sindh.

I’ve been following this for sometime. Mirza Zulfiqar seems to be telling the truth as he hasn’t self-contradicted. Truth is flawless. His demand to testify ‘live’ at the court should be accepted by the CJ as a precaution to ‘special editing’ by certain segments of our media with their own agenda. People should attend his rallies encouraging him to keep the tempo till the end of terror. If evidence suffices, culprits sitting in the comfort of their protectors overseas, should be extradited through interpol. The western media is anti Pakistan, however the increasingly powerful internet media is pro Pakistan. This should go as high up as the UN Security Council, where Pakistan government should demand an enquiry into the international conspiracy which is so apparent. The good spirited should continue their info war internationally. Well done Mirza.

Dr. Mirza seems to have spoken the truth, his rebellious remarks about Rehman Malik are well deserved. True Pakistani’s should stand up for Pakistan. The true custodians of Pakistan should rise up to save this country and expose the black sheep’s among us who have sold themselves out to international conspirators.

i think Mr. Mirza has taken a very bold step. All praise for him. Now it is up to the people of Karachi to stand up against this party. This can really be a new beginning and things are not going to change unless we now take a stand.
Karachi, it is now really up to us to take the second step and let’s work together to get ourselves liberated.

Allah! Bestow peace and blessings to this wronged nation! Show them the reason why it was created!

What Zulfiqar Mirza said is his personal opinion; party has nothing to do with his statements. This was not the first time, he has issued such statements in past as well. Thos who blaming that Zulfiqar Mirza uttered what he was directed by President Asif Ali Zardari are just trying to score political mileage from his statement. President has nothing to do with such asinine moves. It is hilarious to think that President himself forced Mirza to speak against own party members and especially interior minister. One should also not forget that Zulfiqar earlier apologized for his several such harsh statements, so he should not be taken as serious. It is totally absurd. As far the case of a political party is concerned, it is stark reality that this political party is involved in target killing and all sorts of crime in Karachi. He is right when he says who is behind the target killings in the metropolitan city of Pakistan, Karachi. However, the Military Intelligence (MI) and Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) reports that were released earlier are solid evidence to validate Mirza’s statement. These intelligence reports were not kept secret; rather these were released to the Pakistani media, both electronic and print. Few months ago it was claimed by a security official that all the 15 target killers held, belong to political party. Thus it is clear who is involved in unrest and strife in Karachi.

The outburst of Dr. Zulfiqar Ali Mirsa is a healthy sign showing that sensible people cannot go on ignoring those who are “murdering” the country and its people for their own narrow interests. TRhe Apex court must invite him and listen to his analysis of the situation of the country.

Whatever your personal affiliation, you have to admit that someone in Pakistan had the courage to speak the truth about Karachi. Even Mohajirs are tired of this chaos. Do you know how the original MQM leader was murdered in UK ? A hit team from Karachi traveled to UK on student visas to commit that crime. They have been traced and arrested.

Corrupted government, corrupted politicians and corrupted, gruesome, unwise men in our government, untrustworthy police officers, self interested government and legal system is altogether a venomous recipe of disaster for any country. It is not about MQM or PPP it is all about the dirty tricks to play and to fool people to create more havoc, where no one is sincere to their country nor their ancestors.
