LAHORE, Aug 16: Sanda police arrested two extortionist from a cloth shop for allegedly receiving Rs300,000 from a trader on Tuesday.

Sanda Station House Officer Muhammad Shoaib said accused Muhammad Qasim and Ali Raza were taken into custody when they were receiving extortion money from Muhammad Zaheer at the behest of Aamir, alias Tanba, who is a prisoner at Kot Lakhpat Jail.

He said Aamir, who was jailed in connection with cases of extortions, murders and attempted murders, made a phone call to Zaheer a few days ago and demanded money and hurled life threats in case of non-compliance. Zaheer alerted the police authorities.

Some policemen in plainclothes were deployed near Zaheer’s shop who took the suspects into custody.

The SHO said the suspects were wanted by the Iqbal Town police for receiving Rs700,000 extortion money from the owner of a patrol pump some eight months ago.
