LAHORE, Aug 11: Five people threw hand-grenades at the house of a retired police inspector in the Sootar Mill locality of Manawan early on Thursday.

No loss of life or injury was reported in the incident, which triggered panic in the locality. The police, Bomb Disposal Squad and Rescue 1122 reached the scene on initial emergency calls of a bomb explosion.

A hand-grenade found at the scene was defused by the Bomb Disposal Squad.

Former inspector Malik Mudassir told the police that murderers of his brother-in-law attacked his house with three hand-grenades before Fajr prayers. He said he and his family escaped unhurt in the incident and the suspects fled.

Mudassir said he was pursuing the case of his brother-in-law’s murder and this angered the assailants.

Manawan police registered a case against Tanveer and Arsalan, who are already proclaimed offenders in the murder case, and their three accomplices.

HOUSE ROBBERY: Five robbers stormed the house of Muhammad Noman in Shadman police precincts and took away cash, jewellery, cell phones and other valuables worth Rs1.5 million.
