Gunmen loot two traders
RAWALPINDI, Aug 2: Armed robbers looted two businessmen in different areas of the city overnight, police said on Tuesday.
Mohammad Faisal, a trader of Gunjmandi, was on his way home when two motorbike riders intercepted him and held him at gunpoint. They snatched Rs300,000 he was carrying and sped away.
In the other incident, three persons, posing as customers, entered the shop of Nadeem Akhtar at Asghar Mall Road and looted cash and valuables at gunpoint and escaped.
Nadeem Akhtar said in his complaint to police that the gunmen took away cash, a cell phone and some bottles of cosmetics.
The police registered cases against the unknown robbers and have started investigation.— Staff Reporter
Six injured on road
CHAKWAL, Aug 2: Six persons sustained injuries in two accidents occurred in different areas, police said on Tuesday. First accident took place near Naka Kahoot village at Chakwal-Talagang Road when a passenger van collided with a truck.
Resultantly four passengers received injuries. The injured were identified as Parveen Qaiser,30, a resident of Abottabad, Aneela,12, resident of Mansehra, Noorul Islam,50, resident of Battal and Mohammad Zahid,18, resident of Batgram. The injured were rushed to the THQ hospital Talagang from where Parveen Qaisar and Noorul Islam were referred to Rawalpindi due to their critical conditions.
In another incident, two men were injured as a trailer hit their car at Rawalpindi Road near Saang village. Najab Abbas, resident of Dhudial town told Police that he along with Asad Abbas was returning from Rawalpindi when a trailer (PLE-975) hit their car injuring them seriously. Police registered the cases and started investigation. —A Correspondent
Murderer held CHAKWAL, Aug 2: An alleged killer was arrested by Neela police on Tuesday. Mohammad Ashraf who turned out to be an advocate was arrested for allegedly killing Gulzar Khan. His other two accomplices Tariq Mehmood and Liaquat Ali are still at large. According to police sources, Mohammad Ashraf is a senior member of District Bar Association (DBA). —A Correspondent
