MANSEHRA, Aug 1: Mansehra police recovered a minor girl and arrested five members of a gang of kidnappers, including a woman, on Monday.

Showing happiness on the prompt action by police, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa MPA Mufti Kifayatullah visited the Baffa police station and gave away Rs10,000 as reward to the raiding party for recovering the girl.

According to police, a burqa-clad woman kidnapped Khadeja Bibi, 6, from Tarangri Sabir Shah on Sunday morning and shifted her to Sarai Damtor area of Abbottabad.

They said that the woman and his male accomplices had also demanded Rs1.5 million in ransom for the girl's release.

They said that following a tip-off the officials interrogated one of the alleged kidnappers, Munawar Khan, who confessed to his crime and said that the girl was kept in Abbottabad.

Later, a police team led by Shinkiary DSP Rasool Shah recovered the girl from Abbottabad, where she was kept in chains. The police also arrested the alleged kidnappers, including the woman Rabia Bibi, her brothers Masroor and Munawar and another two members of the gang Asif and Sarwar.

After the girl's recovery, MPA Mufti Kifayatullah went to the Baffa police station along with area people and gave Rs10,000 reward to the raiding party. Speaking on the occasion, the MPA said that the people would extend all-out support to the police to eliminate crimes in the area.

Meanwhile, the Mansehra police have arrested 30 alleged outlaws in July.

According to a police department statement, the arrested people were wanted in different cases from the last several years.

They said that in the same month four Kalashnikovs, 12 rifles, 40 shotguns and 95 pistols and revolvers were also recovered from the possession of criminals. Besides, the police also seized 43 kg of charas and other contrabands.
