ISLAMABAD, July 27: A women from Sargodha seeking financial aid for her ailing husband was allegedly gang-raped by six persons, including a policeman, for five days.

To add to her grief, her four-year-old son Ghulam Hussain died allegedly of hunger on July 26 in her home in Sargodha.

Police have registered an FIR against the accused constable and his five accomplices. The constable has also been asked to immediately report to his police station.

The horrific crime came to light after the victim succeeded in escaping from the custody of the alleged rapist and came to Islamabad District and Sessions Court.

Aneza Nasir advocate filed a petition in the court of district and sessions judge seeking registration of case against the accused. The court issued notice and sought report from Tarnol police by August 4.

Besides, the court also referred the case to the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Mohammad Yar Gondal for hearing. Later, Aneza Nasir advocate produced the victim in the court of magistrate Farrukh Nadeem who directed the police to carry out medical examination of the victim.

Aneza Nasir while talking to Dawn said the victim arrived in Islamabad on July 21 at around 8pm or 9pm at Chongi number 26 Tarnol. A police constable deployed at the checkpoint intercepted her and asked her why she was in the area, Ms Nasir added.

The constable showed sympathy to her when she told him that she came to capital to seek financial aid from the prime minister for the treatment of her husband AH, suffering from TB for the last nine months.

The constable allegedly took her to Mandi Mor in a taxi on the pretext of taking her to the PM House.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Dr Ehtisham Anwar said District Magistrate Amer Ahmed Ali had ordered the registration of FIR against the policeman.

He said the district magistrate has said the investigation in the case would be done on merit and no pressure would be accepted in this regard.

The police high-ups said the accused would not be spared if the allegation against them was proved. This is a personal act of an individual or group not the police department, the senior police officers added.

When the accused police constable was approached, he denied his involvement in the rape and said he had been on leave from July 22 to 28 and would resume his duties on July 29.
