GHALANAI/UPPER DIR, July 27: Two volunteers of a tribal lashkar and a security man were killed as the ongoing military operation in Mohmand Agency entered its third phase on Wednesday.

Security forces launched operation in Manzari Chena, Athamkhel and Zorh Kallay areas of Baizai tehsil along the Afghan border to start third phase of the ongoing military action Brekhna (lightning) in the tribal region. Two volunteers of a tribal lashkar and a soldier were killed during the operation, sources said. They added that 12 security personnel and five volunteers received injuries in a mine blast and clashes with militants.

The security forces also defused several bombs planted by militants along the road in Shanikhel and Dobakhel areas. The political administration arrested about 50 tribesmen under collective territorial responsibility clause of Frontier Crimes Regulation.

Meanwhile, security forces recovered army uniforms and weapons from two empty houses in Achar Bala area of Upper Dir on Wednesday.

During a search operation, the security forces entered the uninhabited houses of Shawal and Zafar and recovered army uniforms and weapons.

The seizures include two guns, two hand grenades, four rockets, three wireless sets, 200 rounds and four army uniforms.
