RAWALPINDI, July 24: A businessman was robbed of Rs500,000 by two gunmen at Chandni Chowk and a family was deprived of gold ornaments valuing Rs2.2 million and foreign currency as four gunmen forcibly entered into their house in Westridge and escaped with the loot, police said on Sunday. Obaid-ur-Rehman, one of the victims, in his complaint lodged with the Banni police said that he was on way to home after collecting the cash when two motorbike riders intercepted him near Chandni Chowk and snatched away Rs500,000 from him at gunpoint.
In the other incident, four gunmen forced their way into the house of Muhammad Fahim in Westridge. He complained to the police that he opened the door as the bell rang and found four unidentified persons standing outside. He said they pulled out their guns, forced their way into the house and held the inmates hostage at gunpoint.
He said the gunmen snatched gold ornaments weighing 45 tolas, $300, Rs4,000 and took away car no IDL-7771 parked in the garage.
Police said though the car stolen by the gunmen was found at a deserted place, the looted gold jewellery and cash were yet to be recovered.
