SUKKUR, July 20: A major operation to recover Ali Bux Nandwani, 22, kidnapped a few weeks ago, ended in failure on Wednesday.

He was whisked away by a group of armed men from Goth Guloo Wali near Karampur, district Kashmore.

A heavy contingent of police had cordoned Deh Jamal in the jurisdiction of Karam Pur police station.

The siege was laid on an information that kidnap victim Ali Bux Nandwani was kept in a house in the village.

After six hours of hectic efforts and a house-to-house search, police failed to recover him.

According to Senior Superintendent of Police, Kashmore, Syed Asad Raza Shah, raids were conducted on houses of Jangal Nandwani and Belo Nandwani, whom he termed hardened criminals. He said Jangal Nandwani escaped while Belo Nandwani was arrested from whose possession an un-licensed shotgun had been recovered.

The senior police official further said that more such raids would be conducted for recovery of the kidnap victim.
