Father, son wounded

ATTOCK, July 20: A farmer and his son were seriously injured by two village fellows in Domail village of Basal police station.

Police said on Wednesday that Mian Khan reported to the police that he and his son Ameer Aslam were working in their fields on Tuesday evening when two brothers Meer Zaman and Noor Zaman, residents of the same village attacked them with axes and fled the scene.

Resultantly, both sustained serious injurious and were rushed to the local hospital. Basal Police station registered a case against both the accused. — Correspondent

Young girl kidnapped

ATTOCK, July 20: A teenaged girl was kidnapped by a young man with the help of his father in Sheenbagh village of Attock Saddar police station.

The sources said on Wednesday that a resident of Sheenbagh village reported to the police that Shahbir Ali with the help of his father Bashir Ali allegedly kidnapped his 16-year daughter as both father and son entered his house forcibly.

Later, they dragged his daughter into a vehicle parked outside his house and fled the scene.

The police registered a case against both the accused and later arrested Bashir Ali. However, the police are trying hard to recover the abducted girl and arrest main accused Shabir Ali. — Correspondent

Woman drug pusher jailed

CHAKWAL, July 20: A woman drug pusher was awarded two-year jail term by the court of additional district and sessions judge on Wednesday.

Miss Bivi, a resident of Sargodha was arrested by the city police a few months ago on the charges of possessing 1075gram heroin.

On Wednesday, additional district and sessions judge after finding all the allegations true awarded her two-year imprisonment with a fine of Rs50,000. — Correspondent

Four outlaws arrested

ISLAMABAD, July 20: The Koral Police on Wednesday arrested four persons for liquor bootlegging and possessing weapons and marijuana during a raid in Alipur village.

A police spokesman said that the police also recovered 700 bottles of liquor, a Kalashnikov and 650grams marijuana from their possession.

The police was informed by the sources that a gang of liquor bootleggers was shifting huge cache of liquor in Alipur village.

Superintendent of Police (Rural) Faisal Bashir Memon constituted a team under the supervision of SHO Koral Inspector Maher Munawar. The team conducted a raid and succeeded in arresting a bootlegger while two others managed to escape from the scene. The police also recovered 200 bottles of liquor.

During preliminary interrogation, the arrested person disclosed the hideout where the liquor was stored. A police team raided the hideout and recovered 500 bottles.

Likewise, the Koral police during patrolling intercepted three suspects and recovered Kalashnikov and 650grams marijuana from them. — Staff Reporter

Two injured in accident

TAXILA, July 20: Two passengers were injured critically when a speedy bus collided with a truck on the GT Road near technical college in the limit of Wah Cantonment police station on early hours of Wednesday.

Police sources said that a Lahore-bound bus coming from Mardan (bearing number Mardan C-2323) collided with a loaded truck (bearing number Buner C-167). Resultantly two passengers sustained serious injuries. The injured were taken to a local hospital by motorway officials.

Their condition was stated to be critical. The injured were identified as Riaz Khan and Gullzada. The driver of the bus managed to escape. Wah Cantonment police registered a case and started investigation. — Correspondent

Owners of restaurants challaned

RAWALPINDI, July 20: The district health department on Wednesday issued challans to owners of four restaurants for poor hygiene.

District Food Inspector Rana Ghulam Murtaza told Dawn that the health department team conducted a raid on restaurants in different parts of the city in its ongoing campaign against adulteration and unhygienic condition of food outlets.

He said the team checked four restaurants –Alladin Restaurant, Gulf Hotel, Awami Cooking Centre and Sarhad Hotel – and found their kitchens and utensils in unhygienic condition. The team also destroyed rotten food from these outlets.

Another health department team conducted raids in different markets and seized 800kg of fungus-infested pickle, putrid milk and yogurt.

The team raided a pickle factory at Pir Choha Imambargah Chowk and confiscated 800kg of pickle being kept in unhygienic condition. It also destroyed 200 litres of putrid milk at Dhoke Khabba. — A Reporter
