LAHORE, July 19: A grave-digger of the Mian Mir graveyard was arrested for allegedly desecrating a grave on Tuesday, Mustafaabad Station House Officer Khalid Mehmood said.

A man alerted police after finding that the grave-digger identified as Jabbar was digging the grave of sons of Ishtiaq Ahmad at Mian Mir graveyard.

The SHO said police rushed to the spot and took the suspect into custody after spotting a grave damaged. He said the suspect was allegedly digging the grave create space for another one after receiving Rs15,000 from a family.The SHO said a case under Section 297 (trespassing on burial places,) of the Pakistan Penal Code was registered against Jabbar.

FAINTED: At least 10 members of a Tableeghi Jamaat team fell unconscious allegedly after they took contaminated food at a mosque in L-Block of Johar Town on Tuesday.

Rescue 1122 shifted Muhammad Anas, Matee Ullah, Roshan Khan, Muhammad Manzoor, Ghulam Muhaiuddin, Usman, Yar Muhammad and Roshan Zameer to Jinnah Hospital.

Rescuers said the victims, who were staying at Abdullah Bin Masood Mosque, were found lying unconscious when some locals came to the mosque to offer Fajar prayers.

They said the victims might have taken contaminated food before going to sleep.
