KARAK, July 17: The local chapter of Jamaat-i-Islami has threatened to attack the grid station and other offices of Peshawar Electric Supply Company if authorities fail to end unscheduled loadshedding in the district within seven days.
The activists of Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) staged a protest rally here on Sunday against power loadshedding and low voltage in the district. Led by JI district president Maulana Tasleem Iqbal, the protesters marched from Baz Mohammad Chowk to Saddam Chowk.
Addressing the rally, Maulana Tasleem, Maulana Samiur Rehman and Hamayun Khattak alleged that the government deliberately created energy crisis in the country. “The government has not made any plan for finding new energy sources during the last three years,” they added.
They said that residents of the district were bearing 20 hours loadshedding coupled with extremely low voltage.
“The low voltage has created shortage of drinking water as pumps and tubewells cannot function owing to low voltage,” they said.
The speakers alleged that prolonged power loadshedding and low voltage was a conspiracy against people. “We will not accept the lame excuses of Pesco anymore,” they said.
They threatened to attack the power grid station and other offices of Pesco if the issues of unscheduled loadshedding and low voltage were not resolved within one week.
