LAHORE, July 12: The National Accountability Bureau, Punjab, has ordered an inquiry against Muhammad Ijaz, ex-MD National Fertilisers Corporation (NFC) and others for their alleged involvement in corrupt practices causing loss worth over Rs2.5 billion to the national exchequer.

According to NFC sources, Muhammad Ijaz and other officials of National Fertilisers Corporation had allegedly committed corruption in the import of fertilisers and its transportation during the period 2008-10.

A team of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in line with the suo motu action taken by the Supreme Court of Pakistan is conducting inquiry against the accused NFC officials and recommended registration of a case against them.

“We have sacked the officials involved in the embezzlement including Col (retd) Ikraam, consultant marketing, Hamed Pervaiz, deputy GM and Fateh Muhammad, marketing officer, Lahore while regional manager Abdul Ghaffar who is also involved in the corruption had not been relieved of duty due to certain reasons,” an official said.

More than 12 storekeepers deputed at various centres of NFC of the country had also been sacked for their alleged involvement in the corruption, the he added. — APP
