RAWALPINDI, July 11: An under construction water well collapsed at Adiala road killing one worker, while another man committed suicide by shooting himself apparently due to his long illness in Westridge on Monday, police said.

Eye witnesses said Amir Aziz was working on the well when all of a sudden it collapsed burying him in the debris.

Shortly after the incident, the emergency staff of Rescue 1122 reached the scene and recovered the body after more than two hours.

In the second incident, a 45-year-old man who had lost lower part of his body in a road accident killed himself by shooting with a pistol in his house in Westridge on Monday.

Imran Malik son of Zaman Malik had been in distress since he had met with a road accident in which he lost his lower part of his body and was using a wheel-chair for his movement.

Preliminary police report suggested the suicide victim had been in misery after losing his business due to the accident.

On Monday he was at home when he took his pistol and killed himself.
