LAHORE, July 10: A special monitoring team of the City District Government of Lahore (CDGL) on Sunday sent six stall vendors to jail after conducting their summary trial at various bazaars.

The team led by District Officer (Monitoring and Inquiry) Amin Akbar Chopra took the action against vendors after it found them overcharging and selling substandard commodities at Moon Market (Iqbal Town), Shadman and Wahdat Colony Sunday bazaars.

The team also fined (Rs7,400) some other vendors at Sherakot, Islampura and Karim Park bazaars. The team observed a sharp increase in the prices of nine vegetables and five fruits.
