MARDAN, July 5: Two unidentified motorcyclists snatched Rs2 million from a trader at gunpoint at a crowded bazaar here on Tuesday.
The officials of city police station quoted the trader, Imran, as saying that he was going to a bank to deposit an amount of Rs2 million when two unidentified armed men riding a motorcycle intercepted him, threw red chili into his eyes and snatched the money. The city police station registered a case and started investigation.
After the incident, the traders of cloth market staged a protest demonstration outside the city police station and demanded immediate recovery of the looted amount and arrest of the bandits.
The traders chanted slogans against the district police for their failure to provide security to the traders' community of the city. FLOOD SITUATION:
A meeting was held at the office of Commissioner Mardan on Tuesday to review arrangements for possible flood during monsoon in different areas of the division.The meeting was chaired by DCO Mardan Zakaullah Khattak and attended by DCO Swabi Syed Mohammad Shah, DOR Mardan Fakhar Zaman, DOR Swabi Fazal Rehman, sub-division officer irrigation Alam Zeb, TMOs of Mardan, Takhtbai, Swabi and other officials concerned.
The TMOs were directed to work together with the officials of irrigation department and carry out a survey of the buildings located on the banks of the rivers and also pinpoint illegal encroachments.
The meeting instructed DCOs of both the districts to inform the PDMA about their requirements so that timely arrangements could be made in this regard.
