LAKKI MARWAT, July 3: Police claimed here on Sunday to have arrested 65 outlaws and 308 suspects during a search operation in different areas of the district.

The personnel of anti-terrorism squad and elite force also took part in the operation, said an official. Police had credible information that proclaimed offenders had infiltrated into district to disturb law and order situation and carry out criminal activities, he added.

He said the law enforcers backed by armoured personnel carriers carried out surprise raids on the hideouts of outlaws in different parts of the district and arrested 65 proclaimed offenders.

“The arrested criminals were wanted by Lakki Marwat and Bannu police in murder, attempted murder, kidnapping, robberies and other crimes”, he said, adding 308 suspects were also arrested during the search operation.

He said that the seizure included 20 Kalashnikovs, three hand grenades, seven rifles, 14 shotguns, 26 pistols, four daggers, 1,406 bullets, 5,280 grams hashish and 90 grams heroin.

MOSQUITO NETS: The district headquarters hospital has started provision of mosquito nets to people to save them from malaria and other diseases.

The district headquarters hospital and other health facilities of Lakki were provided with a large number of bed nets for free distribution among people. “The use of bed net is an easy way to keep you safe from malaria, which is a dangerous mosquito-borne disease,” said Dr Mohammad Ishaq, the medical superintendent of DHQ hospital.

Flanked by malaria control programme focal person Haji Abdul Razzaq, he said that malaria could be fatal for children up to five years of age and pregnant women if precautionary measures were not adopted. —Correspondent

“The use of long lasting insecticides nets can help stop prevalence of malaria,” he said, calling upon people to use bed nets and protect themselves from mosquito's bite.
